Topic cluster plan
A topic cluster plan is a page plan for one subject area: a pillar page, the supporting pages under it, the question each page answers and the internal links between them, written before anything is drafted.
Specification
- Input
- The subject area, the existing pages that touch it, and query data from Search Console.
- Method
- We group the queries by intent, map them to existing pages, mark overlaps and gaps, and assign each gap to a new page with a single question and a target URL.
- Deliverable
- A cluster sheet listing every page, its question, its status (keep, merge, write) and its links.
- Measured by
- Pages in the cluster that are indexed, and queries in the cluster that reach the intended page.
